An Open Book: Learn All About Account Manager, Lauren Maloney

“Believe in yourself! Push yourself to be your best self no matter how long it takes; little wins are huge. Know that you can be anything you want; do it for yourself because you are worth it.”

A Marietta, GA, native, Lauren Maloney, has inspired our DMC Atlanta team since she started with us this past December. At only twenty-four years old, she has developed an attitude of dedication, commitment, and perseverance. It has been a privilege to work alongside her these past few months and benefit from her exceptional leadership skills!

We recently sat down with Lauren and asked her a few questions about her dreams, career, and leadership abilities. Her answers are worth noting and helped us gain a better perspective of why she is as hardworking and people-focused as she is. If you’re eager to learn more about her or want to see what qualities thrive at DMC Atlanta, this Q&A is for you!!

Lauren, with dreams of being a nurse at St. Jude’s growing up, it’s clear that you’ve always had a desire to be a helping hand. Your career path has changed, but it’s been wonderful seeing how committed you are to your people, many of whom are in the beginning stages of their careers. To lend entry-level candidates and employees some confidence, please share a little about your journey to DMC Atlanta.

After high school, I attended college at Georgia Southern University for two years and quickly learned that I needed time to figure out what I really wanted in life, so I took time off and started working in the service industry for about five years. At the end of that time, while working in the restaurant, I decided to go back to school to pursue a degree in Business Administration with the intention of running my own business one day.

While working in the service industry, I learned a lot about myself, what I wanted, and what I was going to do differently in order to achieve my goals. This is why I left. I wanted a career I would be able to grow in and eventually have my own business. I knew there were changes that needed to be made, so I did just that and never looked back once.

College isn’t the right path for everyone. Thank you for sharing your perspective and the importance of taking the time to find yourself in your career. It seems that you’ve found the industry that works best with your skill sets, and we’re excited to see how you thrive over the coming years!

“I believe my greatest skill is staying positive no matter the situation by always looking at the brighter side of things. I think it goes hand in hand with being solution-oriented because to find a positive, you must look at the bigger picture to see all the routes you can take to get to the end goal.”

What led you to want to work with us at DMC Atlanta?

I think what drew me to the company was the opportunity I immediately saw from the moment I stepped in the door.

Do you believe your career has grown since your first day?

My career has grown tremendously since starting at DMC Atlanta. I have learned so much about business and myself while being a part of the company. I am excited to continue to grow and move up!

Lauren, you’ve really stepped into your own as a leader in our office. Can you share a bit about your leadership style?

My leadership style is comparable to the gym teachers from grade school. They push you to do your best, make you laugh, and drill a play in your head while having a good time. I want everybody around me to do well so we have lots of fun while making the work tasks super simple.

You’ve had such a positive impact on your coworkers, and we are eternally grateful for all you do! When meeting with a candidate interested in joining your high-yielding team, what qualities do you search for?

Values that are important to me are honesty, empathy, trust, and hard work.

“My favorite thing about the company is the culture. Everybody has similar goals in life that we all want to help each other achieve. We love each other like family and have lots of fun together.”

With an attitude like that, we’re confident you have some high-standard goals prepared. What are you looking to achieve short term and long term?

My short-term goal right now is to continue focusing on myself by staying consistent and building my team. My long-term goal is to have my own business in this industry and my own skincare business.

As someone constantly in the trenches teaching and molding others, how well do you respond when coached and provided with criticism and feedback?

I respond to criticism a lot better now than I did before. I am always looking for feedback on how to improve myself, whether at work or personal. I learned not to take anything personally.

“I would say I am an equal mix of being independently motivated and team-oriented. I can function well in either setting because I have a very adaptable personality. I love people and working with others, but I am also motivated to push myself to grow in order to succeed in my own independence.”

DMC Atlanta is growing, and we’re excited to continually welcome new members to our team. What advice do you have for these entry-level individuals?

The advice I would give somebody starting a career in our business is to stay positive, focus on your goals, and constantly work on yourself so that you never stop growing.

You’ve experienced pretty consistent results throughout your DMC Atlanta career. How do you track your performance?

I am a numbers person, so I track my performance based on my production. If the numbers start to decrease, I know I am doing something different that isn’t working. I’ll reevaluate the steps I am taking and make changes to evaluate my growth so I can stay consistent. I always follow the system because the system works

What has been your greatest accomplishment to date?

My greatest accomplishment to date is being able to say I have my own apartment I can afford, along with recently buying my very first car straight off the lot; I got a 2023 Hyundai Elantra. I have accomplished more for myself in the past five months of working at DMC Atlanta than I have in the past five years of working in the service industry. I have everything I have ever wanted, and it is exciting to see my growth, and now I am setting new goals to achieve. I am excited to see where life takes me.

“Stay true to yourself and don’t care about what other people think

Everybody has a different perspective on life, and as far as we know, we only live once. So go and put yourself out there and don’t care about what other people think because, at the end of the day, you’re doing what you are doing for yourself and the people you love, nobody else.”

As someone who inspires us, we’re eager to know who inspires you!

Adam Dorfman inspires me so much. He is the humblest guy I have ever met. He cares so much about the people around him and wants everybody to succeed. Adam has worked his tail off to get to where he is, and it is inspiring to see that from a person in my real life. He has all the advice and tools to grow and is a great mentor.

Lauren, you are the perfect mix of introvert and extrovert. You have exceptional self-accountability skills and the ability to mold those around you into the best versions of themselves. Our DMC Atlanta team is lucky to have you and know that the positive impact you have on our business has only just begun. Thank you for sharing a bit about yourself and giving us all the motivation we need to excel in the year’s second half!!

Achieving Big Picture Goals with DMC Atlanta

We’ve all heard the notions about achieving goals – goals like losing those final few pounds, paying off the credit card, earning a business promotion, or upgrading the car. However, what is more commonly ignored are those big-picture goals, the goals with less specific guidelines, or less crunched timelines. The concept of a “five-year plan” or a “ten-year plan” is something that is harder for us to conceptualize. Here at   DMC Atlanta , we encourage our team and, now, you to think bigger than the basics. We challenge you to reach beyond what you feel is possible at this moment and manifest larger dreams than ever previously. “If you think small, your world will be small. If you think big, your world will be big.” — Paulo Coelho Think Big, and Let the Small Details Fall into Place The biggest deterrence from long-term and big-picture goals are the minute details. Do you dream of moving across the country? Don’t be immediately deterred by the cost, time, and hassles of a job...
